Standing in the shadows
Is all I've ever done
Though hiding behind my parents' dreams
Has gotten me nowhere
I cling to silence
To steady myself
Day after dying day
Hoping someone - somewhere
Will help me find my way
My parents wanted me to be
Their little shining star
The hammy girl on Broadway
Driving an expensive black sports car
I cannot make the cut
Not in these rough times
I feel I'm never good enough
So I lose myself in rhymes
