My Heart
I hold
loose pieces of notebook paper
in my hand.
It is a note
my friends had sent me,
after I moved.
So much love in those pages.
Every person
had something special
to say,
but one message held
the most meaning.
The handwriting is lopsided,
and the spelling is imperfect,
but the heart behind it
is pure and true.
"Your my best friend,"it said.
"I miss you so much I cry when I think of you.
Love ya!
Ashley,
your friend for ever."
And my heart breaks in pieces.
