Different
There are opposites to everything,
Like cats and dogs,
North or south,
East or west.
There are all different shapes and sizes,
Circle or square,
Skinny or fat,
Short or tall.
There’s a lot or a little,
Or nothing at all.
There’s wealth or poverty,
And sometimes working class.
There’s hot and dry,
And cool and wet,
There’s the sun and the moon,
And stars sprinkled too.
We’re contrast to the world,
Making a rainbow,
Where everything is special
And everyone is someone.
So skin shouldn’t mean a thing.

Hi, Stevie!! I'm so glad to see you are still writing on here! I saw that one of your pieces was published! I happened to be checking, and on that day, it flashed on the main page. I was ecstatic, and I shared it with all of my classes. Norma may remember the story about "dirty laundry" ..... I loved it! I'm so proud of both of you not only for your talent, but for your willingness to SHARE it! I will keep checking if you keep writing!
Yes, I think she is the English teacher I had in 8th grade, considering where you live. ^_^
(HI MISS GEDRICH!!! IT'S STEVIE! :D)
What a beautiful way to look at people --- as a rainbow. This poem is an eye-opener to anyone who reads it! Very inspirational!
P.S. The artwork complements the poem perfectly.
