My World At Night
As I lie in bed
Between the worlds
of the sleeping and the wake
I look through the crack in the blinds
streetlights flickering on and off
emitting a yellow glow
a carn horn beeps outside
disturbing the blanket of silence
clunking footsteps,
heartbeat of the living
hazy stars blink in the moonlit sky
a pearly sliver is the moon tonight
my world is tired, preparing for sleep
inside my bedroom, the lights
from outside
cast shadows on my dimly colored walls
floorboards creak, settling for sleep
the clock flashes, blue light
a constant reminder of reality
I yawn
tired of normalcy
wanting to break free
my world an I
are tired
We're sleeping
