The Doll
I am not real
Just a creation of
Jealous man
Wooden façade
Do not believe my looks
They are as fake as my complexion
I don’t live for me
Don’t live at all
Actually
Just a muse
For on which my master could paint
He is the one
To teach me
To sing
To dance
To mesmerize
To entrance
To entertain
Alas I feel no pain
At least,
That’s what you think
But you know
Even though
I was created
I have a heart
I think
I have a thought
I hope
I can feel
This I know
For as sure as the Moon is
Bright
The Stars are
Shining
The Sun
Raises high
High enough
To far for me to pluck from the Sky
This I know
Do you?
It seems this way
For you treat me as a human
Carefully
Gently
And when I dance
You dance with me
When I sing
It is we
You treat me like a human
Like I am a fragile ornament
That if you were to drop me
I would shatter
And the pieces scattered
You would never find all of them
To the others I am
A toy
A plaything
A rag
A doll
A doll
That is exactly what I am
But they know that if I am
Broken
I can be replaced
By yet another replica
I think I am number four
But you know better
That when I am stopped
I cease to exist
That there will be no other me
I will be obsolete
That’s why you did it,
Right?
I fall
Wishes
Shattered
Dreams
Torn
Thoughts
Lost
My final glimpse
Is of you
You bury me
Like I was a human
I smile at the tears
This is what I had wished
To be treated as a human
Though I am a Doll
