Locked
Behind the impenetrable grain that is the whites of your eyes
Screeching and wheeling two frightened gulls
Behind the tortured burnished bronze of your irises
Mahogany flat and crying without sound
Behind the unbreakable locks of your pupils
Impenetrable ink spilled from a cracked fountain pen
Behind the door that was built so suddenly
In the creeping twilight
With an explosion of darkness
Crossed with blood
And sealed with a hiss
Your eyes they run skittish
When they catch mine
Turning flat like a glassy lake surface
Cowering locks with no combination
But please
Wait a moment
My heart I believe
Holds the key
