fear so much
we sleep behind locked doors
and leave the lights on
so you can know a little more
and the naked trees
are hands creeping forward,
and the man at the end of the block
intends to slip his life into yours

can you feel the winds dying?
do you care? or are you warm?
because the world is angry
she raises red alarm
and you scratch your own eyes
gather everything you feared
you crack your evening bones
and cry your morning tears
