Not Guessing Anymore
I guess I don't know who you are.
The nights spent dreaming,
Awake in theory, mind closed off.
The summer passed slowly,
My every more aching to see your eyes.
I guess I don't know who you are.
Shy, but friendly still.
Never looking me in the eyes,
Always avoiding a conversation.
Wrote it off as nerves, silly confidence.
I guess I don't know who you are.
A broken dream in my memory.
Never cried over your smile,
But never smiled that one night.
Who you had become was not me.
I guess I don't know who you are.
So I still sit here wondering.
Woulda-coulda-shoulda's take me over.
You came her so easily, so soon.
So why couldn't you become me?
