Monomaniac
I don't believe you can buy
yourself a better day
or buy the light in your eyes
someone gives you,
even after it fades
The sadness sets itself in there
steady on your eyelids
as you try to fall asleep earlier
but your eyes win the fight
and they never want to close
A smile is eaten away,
by the many things that let it stay there
eventually they fade too
you can't find where you belong in your own hands
you have to reach out for the higher feeling
I don't believe in anything that
isn't given to me, or earned through
my own respects
Reality may be the way to set yourself free
Sadness reigns on, a spoken idea
a gutter emotion
lying down, palms up
moving would be another notion of hope
another mistake not yet made
Can't even die in peace
I can't breathe right anymore,
and I want to die a little more everyday
when you let go, and leave me dangling, alone
He was a monomaniac, or so they say
it was the single feeling that killed his insides
of guilt weighing down, and eyelids barely closing
Maybe he didn't want to be alone
but that's what he believed in, peace in solitary
And no one remembered his name.
