Not Ready
I’m ready.
I’m ready to leave.
I’m ready to fly the coop.
The question is,
Are they?
Are they ready,
To lose my daily presence?
Are they ready,
To lose their big play mate?
Are they ready,
To lose their full time baby sitter?
Is she ready,
To be the teenage girl of the house?
Is he ready,
To lose his candy giving, raspberry blowing best friend?
Well, I hope not.
On the outside,
I am ready.
On the inside,
I’m still the little girl who is afraid of the dark.
I might say I’m ready,
But it’s a lie.
