Would Be Hope
On the outside I
force a smile
on the inside
I'm cryin'
I seem to be
forcin' that smile
a lot
to the world I'm
as the happiest
as can be
just a child their age
thats all smiles
but I'm not a child
I'm lost in this familiar place
nothing seems to be
as it used to be
I notice too much
to lose track of the world's pace
out here in the world
its so cold
I see the headline
hear the tales
and all these people
all around are speakin'nieve
things about love and peace
I live in my own
fantasy where I matter
but I seem to see things
as they are
Maybe its 'cause you
seem to see things
so much better
from a distance
The world's in pain
I know that crystal clearly
but no one else seems to think
that things can't be fixed
just like that
they seem to believe
that people can come together
and love each other.
so many things have to happen, though
people mock me for thinkin' this way, but its the truth, friend
'cause as far as anyone can define
the only thing to help us now
would be Hope
