The Fourth of July: A Letter Overseas
Today is the day of the Red, White, and Blue
Today is the day I think of you
You are my soldier, my protector, and my hero
You were watching the day World Trade Center became “Ground Zero”
You were there for the days after the attack
And now, I know you’re still in Iraq
I need you to know that we still care
That you are always in our prayers
Today is the Fourth of July
And though the fireworks create a lovely view
Today is the day I'll think of our nation’s pride
And tonight is the night I'll think of you.
