Veiled Eyes
What if faeries came and touched our world
Waltzing in the silken dew
If we were watched by eyes of wonder
Judging us by all they knew
If pixies nestled in the petals
Of a tender unfurled rose
If selkies swam a lively dance
Where the river bends and flows
If mermaids haunted murky lakes
Gliding swiftly bottom deep
If elves snatched wishes from the air
Laughing blithely every leap
If nymphs would dally in the forest
Chasing moths without a care
Eyes of amber, mossy skin
Brushing, brushing dappled hair
But alas this will not happen
Unless a child's eyes can see
The dipping darting hidden faeries
No, not you; and never me
