"Stardust" - John Coltrane
in three of your notes,
you already sound like cognac and cobblestones,
finer than stardust.
they
escalate
doo da dee da
trill higher higher
wish you didn't
tumble down
i feel blue light on glossy black--
that's your stardust.
da dumddumm
ripples waver soprano
picatto bass throbs under my veins.
trumpet sings in castrato choir
ivory bullets fall back
tickle that trumpet's throat. up and down
dee da da dumdun dum
your fingers don't hit the strings
all at once
before the bass chants
groundstone of that stardust
quietly quietly
la da da deeeee doooo
trumpet rear back your throat
laugh your melody
and fade in metallic firebursts--
you're all stardust.
