Ineffable X
X is something I can't explain
Something I cannot say
An equation I cannot solve
X is a picture I cannot draw
I love X more than I can bear
I disdain X, and equally fear
What could bring delight and wonder
Only smites me with ceaseless thunder
X is full of blunt critique
Some find to be too obscene
Full of charm and temperamental wit
I'm drawn in and quickly spent
For X brings with it tormenting seas
Which bring all onboard total misery
Then when the storm is calm once more
From the memories I cannot recover
X was entangled in my net
But I was too scared to hold it
Afraid that I would do it wrong
This caused the greatest harm
Now X is no longer mine
And has been gone for a time
My mind still wanders there
Ineffable X, I still care.
