"Oh God, pray Thee, so that I can be beautiful within" - Socrates

A lonely boat by the river, perched atop the blue of the waves;

Oh see how it dimly glitters in the slivers of the sun-kissed rays!

And dance it does and what music creaks from its little frame!

What humility in visage it holds, and what silent hidden grace.

Shade for little fish that come to play, and seat for wearied wings,

The lonely boat by the river, with little words do speak;

With quiet gratitude, flies and swims away the ones whom Fate brings.

Whilst all the while, in hushed gaze, it looks beyond the horizon bleak;

When winds come sharp with little warn, and ripples come as much more,

The lonely boat by the river, from left to right and to and fro:

Sway like a daisy in the breeze, and tap against the shore;

But tethered with a rope that's thin, but tight not to let it go.

And all the while, in hushed gaze, lonely boat looks beyond the blue-

To go along with the winds from shore, far towards the whiteberry yew;

Thus, when the breezes blow as much more, lonely boat drifts aglow,

But it remains tethered with a rope so thin, but tight not to let it go.
