Hinges
I am ashamed
Ashamed that, after all these years,
I still stare at that door.
The door you once walked out of,
But never came back through.
I still stare
Waiting for the sound
of footsteps
Watching for a slight turn
of the knob
For the hinges to sigh their relief
As you walk back through
that door.
