House of Mirrors
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?
People gaze into me everyday, searching for themselves.
Who are they?
Their reflections show on my cold, hard glass.
I take on the form of so many people and you never see the real me.
I get to see the best and worst of people.
I’ve been broken, thrown, and taped back together.
Will someone always be there to pick up my pieces?
Sometimes, I hate what I’ve become.
People fall in love with me and people despise me.
I guess it all depends on how you look at it.
A house of mirrors gives you delusions, until you’re not even sure what is real anymore. I only show you what’s skin deep, but I want you to know there is so much more lying within.
Showers fog me up, concealing the truth and I’m tired of people taking me for granted in their own selfish desires.
I reflect the world rushing past me at lightning speed.
I spend lonely nights hanging on a bathroom wall.
Without people, I am a faceless monster waiting anxiously to swallow its prey.
I want a face to identify me, but no one cares about me.
Gel splatters on my surface as people mindlessly work on their prized hair.
I’m dirtied with fingerprints and wiped down with sea blue Windex.
The Windex cleanses me for now, but I still have all the memories stored.
Once you look at me, you’re in me forever.
I never let go.
Look at me.
Look at you.
You can always count on me, even when the world turns its back.
