ophelia
“no,”
she told him
pulling his hands from her hips
turning her head to avoid the imminent kiss
the longing stare
the pleading eyes
she stumbled
her eyes
clouded with tears
she grabbed her backpack
slinging it swiftly over her shoulder
and slammed the door
when she had said
“I love you,”
she had meant it
when he had said it
he had only been searching
for something else
something every teenage boy wanted
something he could brag about
but instead,
he was left with nothing
yet somehow
she was left
with even less
