The Burning Sting of Rejection
You never know how it hurts until you know how strong you need to be.
You can't accept the fact with an open heart.
It has to be guarded, guns and tanks at the ready, barricaded, walls built fifty feet high, ready for the blow and anticipating the sting.
It comes slow and steady like poison through the veins.
And fast and ready like a rattlesnakes razor sharp fangs.
The source gone unnoticed and the pain over bearing.
Nothing and no one can prepare a battle plan for the wound that will never heal.
Constantly stinging as if it's burning in rage, ready for the revenge that will never take place.
Time piles upon it, but nothing will cover it up.
Like a bright red blood stain on the wall, a photograph, a memory that never seems to fade.
Its sly like a paper cut.
Bleeding and open like a fresh wound.
And it stings like a fire ant bite.
Its the rejection of love
Because you never know how it hurts until you know how strong you need to be.
