The distant light fades to dusk
Angels fall from the dark sky
What have we become?

The lost generation,
filled with only strangers?
True we cannot hide ourselves
But we have lost all to the blank faces of screens
And the cold feel of unknown hands reaching into our minds
No expression shown,
No feelings felt as we let our deepest secrets out into the unknown

They fall one by one, no longer able to save us.
No guidance can lead us from the deep dark hole
No light can fill its expanse,
This is our doing
And we are the last generation of hope

Between the lies and complements
We can’t seem to escape,
No one to guide us so we fall

No one to catch us
For we were the last generation of hope
We were the last guiding light
The way to escape
The answer to prayers and the savior of angels

But we fell
We are not the last generation of hope
We are the generation of failure
Of falling lives and lost dreams

I enjoyed reading this well-written poem. It was both sad and sadly true. Our generation has some that have what the world needs, but not enough. There is always hope, though.
