my war
The sky is darkened, my eyes burn red
The smoke of towns lit up in flames
Guns go off, left and right
Fighting through each long cold night
I close my eyes to slip away
No peace is there to find
My eyes close tight, yet all I see
The bodies of my comrades lost
Civilians, soldiers, loved ones, all dead
Looking around, the only thing that can be found
Pain and suffering for everyone around
Turned away from all I know
Who will ever be able to let go
Horrors haunt my every night
All that’s left is fight, or flight…
