Life After Loss
The soft morning air
Breathes new life into my lungs
Raising me to the realization
Of another dawn
Another day of absent minded-minded musings
The breath of salty air
Entrances me to the ragged shoreline
That captivates my weary soul
With its slow, rhythmic pulsations
I stand with my back to the house of my youth
All lonely and forlorn
The kiss of the north wind
Brings my gaze to your face
Just a silhouette of blue
In the corners of my mind
And the fact that
I can't recall the color of your eyes
Hits me like the furious waves
Against the jagged rocks
