"The night is the darkest just before the dawn."

I’m from a place where it’s not uncommon to hear that alluring Southern Drawl.
A place you can always see the Magnolia blooms even graceful as they fall.
Where I’m from, the weather never ceases to change
It can change in an instant from sun to rain
A place where the seasons seem to go from fall to spring
And only one day in between
I come from a place where the weather is insane
But to me, it is better than anything.

Where I come from, we have very close families
And we don’t only gather for holidays and festivities
We stick together through any strife
Because, after all, it’s just part of life
From 9/11 to this recession we’re in
We all stick together and bear herein
We grill out and go out
But most of all, we speak out.
I’m from a world where everything is insane,
But to me, that’s the best thing.

I’m from a place where I can relax and be myself
Where I will eventually have to buy a new bookshelf
Because I can sit outside and read a good book
Without having to worry about who I am or how I look.
I’m from a place where my life is wild and free
And a place where I can just be me.

I’m from a family of country music fanatics
Where the men aren’t the only ones with car schematics
Where we can blast Hank, Jr. going down the highway
And we greet everyone with the custom phrase of “Howdy!”
And when we little Southern Belles start dancing
My crazy uncle, Howard, just starts ranting
“When I was young, they’d never wear that!”
“A girl’d never get caught in a cowboy hat.”
Where I come from, my entire family’s insane,
But I don’t care, because that’s the best thing

I’m in the country where everyone is free
Where I can be proud of who I wanted to be
And when there’s a problem and people get scared
The country, our great nation, will always be there
No matter where you’re from, you’ll always be
part of America, home of the brave and the land of the free.
And I’ll always know my home, and I’ll always find my way
Even though I know that sometimes I might stay away.
But from the crazy weather to the Magnolia trees
To the holidays and festivities,
Through every strife and every new height
We stay together trough this great long life.
From a place where the whole world has gone crazy,
To my place, where I can lay back and be lazy.
I come from a place where everything is completely insane,
But to me, it has been and always will be the best thing.
