Heartbreaker
“I love you.”
A pause.
“I love you two.”
A lie.
“I thought for a second you weren’t going to say it.”
A moment of insight.
“Then I realized that’s ok. I know you love me without the words.”
I grip his shoulders a little bit tighter. I really didn’t want to be a heartbreaker.
“You comfortable?”
A nod.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
A mask.
“Good.”
A misunderstanding.
“Not many girls are willing to sit here and watch their boyfriends
play videogames.”
I’m just too deep in thought to want to do anything else. I don’t want to hurt you, I’m afraid you will leave. But I’m running out of options.
“I’m pretty tired.”
An excuse.
“I got that. I thought we’d do something low key.”
A consideration.
“Thanks.”
A pang in my heart.
“No problem.”
I wish I could tell you. But telling you will only cause you more pain. I just hope one day you will forgive me. I'll find my perfect person, so I hope you find yours.
