Cancer
So many tests,
So many doctors,
So many hospitals.
So many aches.
Tests being run,
Day in and day out.
What little sleep she gets,
Doesn’t help her body.
She’s so damn sick,
And has been for a while.
At first we thought it was a virus,
But she’s never gotten well.
I can’t leave her side,
Can’t be away from her.
“Through sickness and in health”
I vowed.
I won’t break my promise to my wife.
It was as I was sitting by her bedside,
That the doctor came in.
“I have the test results,”
He started.
“You have cancer.”
