A Bereaved Soul
Trees howl with wind and pain
Clouds’ cheeks with salty tears so stain’d
My lover with bright blue eyes
Looks to the trees and softly cries
She shudders as in a frost
Cries from the pain of brother lost
Yells out to froth near the bend
Yells out for our time to not end
Now I like to move steadfast
Now she comes, and follows me last
To the house of blackened brain
Up to the house of souls in pain
There she cries herself to sleep
There she blisters, there now she weeps
There I listen to her pain
There I hope for her love again
She knows that we must move on
She knows I’ll play her fav’rite song
She knows trouble will come sure
She knows too much; I say no more
