Five Second Rule
Golden, burgundy, jade,
and cream colors surround me.
The turkey, fresh from the oven, and the
pumpkin and blueberry pies overwhelm my senses.
Days have been used in preparation for this moment.
My family waits like vultures do
for their prey in another room.
But, with one false move while balancing the
plates, the red potatoes tumble to the ground.
They'll never know how useful the five second
rule came in handy that day.
