Kitchen
With its rusty bronze palette
Which on a humid sumer’s day becomes a resting place
for our dog, for if he moves, he would get more hot.
New appliances of a silver aura and windows
from which fireworks and sun set watches take place
Which on a cold winter afternoon becomes a haven
for the stove provides us heat.
Which on a school night becomes a pit stop
for fast, single dinners
and then a waiting station
when our ride will be here in five minutes.
We are always rushing, for the next thing
But we should really look now at our kitchen
While we have time
When something else comes
and the kitchen finally becomes
home
