They Tell Me
They tell me I’m like a flower
The beauty and it all
They tell me I’m so wonderful
And all I say is “awe”
They tell me I’m so perfect
All I say is “that’s a lie”
They still tell me I’m perfect
They forget the mistakes I’ve done
When they tell me I’m perfect
All I ask is “why”
They tell me not to question compliments
But all I ask is “why”
They tell me to take compliments
So I say “it’s not a compliment”
And so they ask me “why”
I tell them “it’s a lie”
I always say “don’t judge by beauty”
They tell me why
So I say “that’s why I’m here I was judged by beauty”
But they don’t listen
They don’t think someone so beautiful could hurt them
That’s why I’m here I say “looks can be deceiving”
