Struck
This is a poem for the woman who haunts my dreams
whose words strike at me like whips but Your son, your son nothing like you
Yet you do not see that my smile is his smile and that his laughter is my laughter
You are oblivious to his beautiful mind
Whose son needs me in his life and whose son even when he plays has sadness in his eyes
A sadness I know he is too young to feel
Because you take his joy to feed my pain for you are a mother who destroys her children
Who destroyed my family
You will fail to hurt him because I can protect this precious little boy
Whose hand will never touch me again
So I write this for sanity, for my heart’s desire, for you the woman who haunts my dreams
