Nobody's Prize
NOBODY’S PRIZE
No one knows me but me
No one stops to wonder
If what they see is an illusion
Or a glimpse of something real
My heart belongs to me
And beats for no one and nothing
But what I choose:
My laughter and my love
There are those who think they own me
Those who think they love me
Those who think they control me
And those who just don’t care
But no matter the closeness
Between your heart and mine
There is no mixing of blood
I am me and only me
I am no one’s sweet anything
Nobody’s life but my own
No one’s possession
I am nobody’s prize.
