..inch the knob..
...slowly to the left...
..feel as it stings..
..like a million little needles..
...watch as it reddens..
..like you've been slapped..
...notice how your breaths..
...become slow...and shallow..
..feel as your chest aches..
...with oxygen starvation...
..watch as the steam fills the room..
...an endless cloud of nothing..
..that swallows you whole...
..in the last final seconds...
you turn the water cold.
and your body ices over
trapping inside the stinging numbness
you call normal.
