kitten
False love for you
Kitten
Your back extends as my hand reaches for the fur across your chest
This day is cold,
Perhaps your coat isn’t thick enough?
I wonder when you were born if
The creator thought of this.
On the back fence,
Your paws like anger to the splinters
Ripping them in two.
A budding dream
On my sub consciousness
I can’t wait to see the bloom of red
I know must come of this.
And as you walk
Across the lawn
To shred the grass
That so secretively hides the nakedness
That soil hides under,
And the rush of leaves that autumn left
When it decided to run home.
I miss it already,
What will I do?
What will I do
When all I see is branches
No leaves to cover my face
And my skin ages old
As the wrinkles do unfold
And my hands wither as veins protrude.
Then,
Kitten,
What love will you show me
To a human dying as this time they say,
And the rain ceases as it thunders on?
I’m no match for this ecosystem,
Me and you,
Kitten,
Let’s hop the fence.
