Silence
You know
those moments
where everyone
is silent at once?
those rare pockets of time
where everyone feels too
exposed,
real,
vulnerable.
And then it’s gone,
dissipated
with nervous laughter.
I
hate
those
moments.
Not the silence
itself.
More the fact
that nobody
wants to be real.
The fact
that we have to
cover up those
rare moments
to prevent
others
from knowing
the shocking
truth:
We
are
real!
And the real people,
the ones
beneath the shells, are
scared.
