the City leans in
meanders in broad circles,
idly murmuring street-light.
I wonder.
were I to stand and take
an indifferent bow,
and breathe in deep as
I let myself crumple
to the halo below.
Would I feel it?
The staggering wind, the burning rush.
The wonder, the peace,
The impact.
Would I feel it?
two.
the City hums around me now
the broken hum of defeated trees
and overtired students.
I focus on the paving stones,
the cracks between them.
I think I might feel it.
