Fireworks
Boom, fizzle, crinkle,
Burst after burst of light,
Fills the sky,
Temporarily hiding the stars,
My eyes water as I watch them twinkle,
So I lower my gaze to my toes,
Lying on the soft, warm grass next to yours,
I start my journey upward,
Calves, knees and thighs,
All perfectly aligned with yours,
Until my torso,
Which is leaning in towards you,
Your arm rests on my shoulder,
Making me feel secure,
Right now,
I don’t want to dream,
Because reality is better
