1. Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.
2. You wear a mask for so long, you forget who you were beneath it.
3. You see, madness, as you know, is like gravity, all it takes is a little push.

One Father
One whose voice rose above
One whose purpose was to love
One whose head, above the clouds
One who silenced all the crowds
One who lived, never to cease
One who brought much more than peace
One who spoke, but not with power
One who’s brave, no need to cower
One who achieved far more than sight
One who chose to do what’s right
One whose smile is something to speak of
One Father, one whose voice rose above

The author's comments:
My father once showed me a poem he wrote as a teen about his own father. The lines in it were about his "powerful crushing hand" and being "trapped in his grip." He had a rough childhood growing up with his own father, and I needed to prove to him that he was definitely not the same person as his father, so I wrote this in 6th or 7th grade for Father's Day for him. :)
