The Eye

The look from her eye
The gleam from her tear
The struggle she hides
Begins to come clear
The eye she tries to live without
Her pain she can’t scream aloud
She is tied and confused
She hides from the truth
Her hands are worn
From clawing her way out
Her heart is in ribbons and torn
From the inside out
She holds her head somewhat high
Her chin quivers toward the sky
She tries to shut her one eye
Her deception shines from here to there
The look in her eye
The gleam of her tears
The struggle she faces
They all begin to come clear
