The Coming Winds
The winds are coming fast and sure
To blow today away.
To usher in tomorrow,
To sweep away all trace of sorrow,
To doll out time that we can borrow,
And leave memories to stay.
The winds are coming fast and sure
To shape the land anew,
To build and break in equal measure,
Trace new paths and streams for pleasure,
Conjure wispy dreams at their leisure,
And twine past and future too.
The winds are coming fast and sure
To shake our world apart.
To wipe out everything we know,
Wreaking havoc as they blow,
Tearing as they start to sew
A new and fragile, peaceful start.
The winds are coming fast and sure
Complete with clouds and sun.
Puffing gusts of change,
Quite quick to rearrange
The normal and the strange.
Our new lives have begun.
The winds are coming fast and sure,
So ride them if you will.
Leave past tears and smiles behind.
Venture onward till you find
The sunlit places in your mind
Where the winds are always still.
