Seasons
Days of drifting
Through the breeze
Petals growing
Buds blossoming
Spring is here
It won’t last for long
Summer arrives
The days so long
And so hot
Flowers must thrive
Against the heat
Some day they’ll survive
Weeds dominate the empty flowerbeds
As the scorching summer days
Leave the air and fields
Autumn has arrived
Brown leaves fall in spirals to the ground
Children skipping through the piles
Of leaves left lying around
Not for long
Glad the heat has passed
But time will pass quicker
Autumn won’t last long
And winter will fall
Winter is here again
Flowers are long gone
Only the leaves
Of the evergreen tree
Remain sturdy in their place
