Family Cottage
Waves crash in vacant spaces
bringing smiles to years in all the wrong places
rings that encircle us, trapped in wood
on familiar rocks we stood
sun sets in cloudy wake
and soon the darkness overtakes
figures swoop with precise lies
stealing pieces and killing time
we all multiply and divide
to subtract would leave us mystified
and so we'll only just divide
for its easier to mend the lines
with angst comes hope of future promise
but in the end it's all the same
we are the waves, we are the waves
crashing in hopes of one clear day
but when the water shone is glass
the words I speak will be my last
