I remember weeping in the backseat as you took me away
A caged cub that whines and cries
We stopped at where you lived
My face red and eyes sore
I shakily walked into a room with bare floors
There was a few chairs, a TV, nothing more
You had no bed for me so two chairs were pushed together
Though wrapped in a blanket the chill of the house set in
"To keep the bill down," you would say
But I fought with you anyway
For years I continued to stray
Down the line of disdain and bitterness
I still dwell on your venomous words your careless shouts
Those times of callous I hear out loud
May I forgive, may I forget
Because however many I love
My father is one I don't want to regret
