They cinch at her wrists, woven to a leather band
Softly colored, scented
Curling, sheepish and gentle.
They wreath her long, dark hair, embroider
The pathway to the luxurious Hawaiian
Hotels

There are petals in her hands, crushed to
Damp, aromatic lumps
She dances slowly, purposefully,
Dropping the lumps as her hips swing, as she
Bends to kiss the strange man
Smiling and twirling and singing

They watch her petal wristbands and
Her petal hair bands and her
Floating petal skirt
She dances to Hawaiian music
Takes the petals one by one, crushing them to
Damp, aromatic lumps
And each lump that falls brings her closer to
Birth.
