I Am A Poet
l am a poet.
I analyze reality and lose myself in being a subhuman contemporary.
I disconnect from personification to understand it.
I am a ghost every other woman
Who has picked up a pen and made magic with it.
To tell the truth,
I'm not sure how the words come.
Only that they fly out of me like
They had been banging at these gates forever.
My vices that happen to take the form of metaphors,
Which I have been speaking in for a long time.
I am a poet,
I realize now that a ship could never love an anchor.
Every day I go by the hard sell.
I am a product of destruction that begged its Creator to let it be
Beautiful.
If I'm not certain,
I will drown in ebon ink to find my way through the long dark.
To come out on the other side with symbols on paper in an order
That changes something.
That may nudge this world a little.
I am a poet,
If I all I can do it build palaces out of paragraphs and Cathedrals out of stanzas, I better keep building.
The world needs more beauty.
We are poets.
We feed the monster inside the Earth that is tainted by human experience.
We make up for what our kind as lost.
To make something out of nothing.
I am a poet.
I didn’t love to write until 8th grade, and I met a teacher that changed my view. Now every day I sit and write pages of poems, and I can never seem to stop. I am hungry now. This poem is the feed.
