worthy of wishes
I wish to be your wind,
the breeze in your hair on the Nantucket shore,
as you traipse across sand, praying for more.
I wish to be your sail,
tethering you to this wretched home.
I wish to be your storm,
the tears that stream down your face for every soul you mourn.
I wish to be your lifeline,
but I beg of you,
Give me a chance, a moment, anything,
to show you I am just as worthy of your misery.
I wish you could understand that
you could love me too.
