The Ticking of the Universe
Time and time again
We fall like vibrant, scarlet apples,
weighed down by the gravity of the earth.
We collide like two stars
hidden in the vast blanket, destined to destroy each other.
We vanish
as if the universe never existed in the first place.
Time and time again
I linger in a universe once full.
I long for the stars to align
and pray for you to return.
When you do not, as always,
I surrender to the elements.
Time and time again
You reappear out of thin air,
illuminating the horizon before me.
And, as if it had never stopped in the first place,
The ticking of the universe resumes.
