Here I Am
Here I am
A broken shell of who I used to be
A desolate shack down a dark alleyway
Which sun has tried to puncture, then abandoned
Why does it seem like everywhere I turn
Leads me back to where I started?
On my bed, wishing things were better
The sunset outside dimming, stifled by blinds
And incessant mental noise
I live nowhere and belong to no one
A floater left for undecided winds
A floater, where will I be taken next?
Finally out of these city slums
And into your heart?
I feel like everyday I put on a show
Like the true dancer I am
I try to cling to spotlight like a desperate acrobat
Spin around, watch how my limbs move
Sometimes the pure white light escapes me
And I look you dead in the eyes
With no snark comments, no more tricks ready to leave my lips
Can’t you see? I want you to caress my hand
And tell me that it’s okay to hold intermission for a while
I am wounded, soldier
I’m about to float away
Pop me and hold me closely
I’m tired from day to day
Make me forget about myself
I’m throwing my life away but still
You stay as my last desire
Does that mean anything to you?
When I am a tumbleweed brushing by
I look to you for a small smile
Save me from myself
Bring this starving poet back to life
