In Sweden's woods, where nature's whispers call,

I long to venture, simple tools in hand,

My heart's desire, a log cabin’s tranquility

Far from the fast paced life of Stockholm's land.

In respect to our forefathers work,

I strive to build, to make them proud

To brave the Swedish winters, day and night,

As nature's symphony, my heart shall feel delight.

In this constant, modern world's cruel race,

I long for moments free from gadgets' grace,

To find my comfort in a quiet space,

Away from screens and signals we embrace.

The log cabin, a symbol pure and true,

A tribute to nature's humble grace

Its form and function stand in opposite spaces

To cities' towering, cold, and urban face.

With logs and love, I'll build this shelter

A retreat from the chaos of today,

In Sweden's woods, a calm, wild story,

A simple life where I can find my way.

The author's comments:

I wrote this poem because my Dad used to like to build things in the backyard woods of his house. He always wanted to build a log cabin from scratch in those woods but now he is too old and has a job and doesn’t have enough time to get away from the liveliness of this busy world we live in today. I would like to carry this on and build a log cabin myself so I can complete what once was his idea and get away for a while and feel what it is like to be away from civilization and isolated in the woods without technology for a few weeks.
