Perfection
They all see me that way
They all think I’m who they want to be
And that’s what I let them think
What I let them see
They see a titanium girl
Functional in so many ways
Strong and Independent
Popular but not common
Haha
Yea
That’s what I put off
I’m a titanium girl
I’m shiny and skinny
The perfect glass skin
The perfect white smile
The perfect body
I’m just
Perfect
They see what I let them see
But it’s not what I see in the mirror
The girl in the mirror,
She’s just an empty reflection
Nothing is real to her
Sometimes she even stands outside of her body
Derealization
That’s what they call that
That’s not what she calls it though
She doesn’t call it anything at all
Nobody has told her what it is
She wouldn’t dare let anyone see who she sees
No one can see the glass girl
She’s shiny, sure
But she’s thin
And fragile
She breaks easily
Nothing a little glue can’t fix
But something has to be cut to need to be glued.
She’s got that under control too.
But the titanium girl?
She wouldn’t dare
She’s too good for that
She’s too strong to even have the thought of self-harm
She would never
But she’s not the girl in the mirror
The girl in the mirror
She’s different
She cuts
She drinks
She smokes
She goes to too many parties
She’s different.
The titanium girl has been through a lot
A lot that made her titanium
She was supposed to be a glass girl
But she’s titanium
Or maybe she’s not
Maybe she’s just glass
Spray-painted gray
To look like she's titanium
Maybe she’s not as perfect as she looks
Maybe everyone just assumes
And assuming...
Well you know what they say about that
But I guess it’s not assuming
I guess it’s more about believing
Because you only assume based on what you know
Whereas believing is thinking what you see is true
That’s what I think the reality is.
I guess that’s what they think the reality is too.
